Cooks serve some or all of the following duties:
• Prepare and cook complete meals or unique dishes and foods
• Prepare and cook excellent meals for patients as instructed by a dietitian or chef
• Schedule and manage kitchen helpers
• Manage kitchen operations
• Maintain inventory and descriptions of food, supplies, and tools
• May set up and manage buffets
• May wash kitchen and work area
• May plan menus, select the size of food portions, estimate food conditions and fees, and monitor and order supplies
• May hire and prepare kitchen staff.
